On the Morning of January 24th, 2026, Federal Officers executed yet another innocent protestor. His name is Alex Pretti. He was just 37 years old and a Minneapolis resident. He was on the scene recording an ICE terror operation when the officers decided to detain him after he stood up and protected a woman ICE was brutalizing. The situation escalated rapidly. They immediately started to pile on top of him and beat him. Within seconds he was shot at least ten times, AFTER they disarmed him. This comes just weeks after Renee Good was shot and killed in a similar situation. Pretti was also a unionized nurse apart of AFGE Local 3669. Most Border Patrol Agents are also under the AFGE union. Meaning its very likely that the officer killed a member of his own union!
From this, we can see that the federal government is directing DHS, ICE, and HSI to brutally suppress, hunt down, and murder anyone standing in the way of their kidnappings of immigrants. The ruling class is openly embracing fascism, no longer is it a secret. Our “constitutional rights” to free speech and protest get revoked and trampled on everyday. At this moment, the working class is divided and outorganized by our Imperialist rulers. This can be changed; we can put a stop to the terror.
U.S. imperialism devastates the economies of the Global South, compelling many workers to migrate here in order to survive, where they are then subjected to surveillance, repression, and deportation by the same imperialist state. It is clear that the only way to protect our immigrant neighbors and coworkers is to fight back. We have to organize ICE defense within our own workplaces and mobilize our coworkers to fight back in the streets. Without actively building class conscious and independent unions and workers’ organizations, there will be little we can do to fight back.
Only a movement led by and exclusively for the working class can end the onslaught we are witnessing!
