About

The New Labor Organizing Committee (NLOC) is a coordinating and leadership body for independent labor organizations and class-conscious workers within the United States, founded in December 2024.

The purpose of the NLOC is to organize joint action of trade unionists against imperialism in the interests of the working class. The American trade union movement is presently at a crossroads: trade unions in theory are more popular than they ever have been in this country, and at the same time, the existing trade unions (the state unions, mainly the AFL-CIO affiliates, the SEIU, and the IBT) are more discredited than ever. In spite of the wild popularity of trade unionism in the US, the movement has reached historic lows amid constant sellouts of the rank and file. As a product of this contradiction, two lines have emerged in the labor movement: a sell-out legalistic state unionist trend and an independent, combative and class conscious unionist trend opposed to it. Despite being the only path forward for the trade union movement in the US, class-conscious unionism is in a disorganized and disunited state nationally. Hence the need for a new trade union center.

The New Labor Organizing Committee is the foundation around which this new trade union center will be built.
